This is a vinyl LP pressing of Far Cry by Eric Dolphy Quintet with Booker Little, which includes two bonus tracks. This was Dolphy's third album as a leader, following Outward Bound and Out There (all three LPs were recorded in 1960). These albums announced the beginning of a prolific career, which tragically ended just four years later with Dolphy’s untimely death in Berlin on June 29, 1964, only nine days after turning 36-years old. Tragically, trumpeter Booker Little passed away at an even younger age, dying of kidney failure due to uremia on October 5, 1961, at the age of 23. Far Cry was Dolphy and Little’s first recorded collaboration ever, and they would participate together on five more albums before the trumpeter’s death.
