The Super Distortion is one of DiMarzio's earliest pickups, designed to send your tube amp straight into overdrive with its ultra-high output. Both single notes and chords sound huge, with thick, boosted mids; fat highs; and chunky lows. Generally a bridge-position pickup, but great in the neck with lower-gain guitar amplifiers.
Many of the classic rock sounds of the '70s and '80s came from this pickup, used by players like DiMeola, Gambale, Vinnie Moore, and Frehley. It has 4-conductor versatility with coil-splitting capability. Available in regular or F spacing. Regular spacing suits most Gibson style guitars, while F spacing is for most Fender types.
