The rhythm section—featuring the legendary Freddie Green, Eddie Jones, and Sonny Payne—is the ultimate foundation of the band, and, of course, the key figure here is The Count himself. All the musicians are at the top of their game, the crowd is fanatically enthusiastic, and the band returns their energy in full. Here is Basie’s band at its very best!
